Happy Valentine's day! George and I are currently relaxing over a lovely glass of champagne, after I arrived home from work to this beautiful display.

I made him the easiest, but yummiest sugar cookies. I used this recipe and I love how they turned out. I added a simple icing and some hundreds and thousands to the special ones. The hardest part was the fact that I didn't have a stencil and cut all of them out one at a time using a knife.

It was worth it though. It's Valentine's day after all!

Scenes from the most beautiful day spent in the Cotswold's. George and I woke up early yesterday morning to catch a few trains and buses to get there. They take Sunday's seriously in the Cotswolds. It definitely adds to the charm though and after an hour long walk along a stunning country road, we got to Painswick. It was totally worth it!

We of-course went straight for a cosy pub lunch at the Falcon Inn. The perfect way to start our adventure. The rest of the day was spent strolling around the gorgeous little village, meeting horses and playing in the snow.

It couldn't have been more perfect.

Friday...I love you! Even if I still have work tomorrow, I am so happy it's Friday night. George and I have had the most perfectly relaxed evening. He's off for the whole weekend, no classes or anything. So, on Sunday we are off to visit a little village in the Cotswolds. I could not be more excited to see more of the U.K.

I'd wake up in Positano, at Le Sirenuse to be exact. All of my loved ones would be there as well. We would spend the day boating around, hopping into grottos, and we would pop over to Capri for lunch. I would spend the afternoon reading by the ocean, snapping photos, kissing, laughing, a little wine would be had. Dinner would be at some ridiculously delicious trattoria. I'd fall asleep smiling.

Visit Halong Bay in Vietnam, Have and raise loving children, and learn to sail.

8. What are some of the littlest things which make you happy?

Chocolate, wine, puppy kisses, peonies, the smell of gardenias, the ocean, garlic, a good book, brunch with girlfriends, bike rides, sparkling water, lavender, long baths, cooking, good hugs, lemons... the little things are the best. Soph totally has this right!

weekend in cardiff (with my marney).

This weekend couldn't have been more perfect. We had a wine filled dinner at home. We finally visited Cardiff Castle and strolled through the snow-covered grounds. We had a traditional pub lunch while it was snowing outside. We fought the crazy weather and walked down to Cardiff Bay, just to walk straight back home. We had a beautiful dinner out in a newly opened restaurant (The Corner House). And we had a leisurely Sunday morning wandering around galleries. It was just sensational.

It was made this incredible by the fact that we had the company of my Grandmother (we call her Marney). We just had the best time. I really didn't want her to leave.

I am ridiculously happy that it's finally Friday. This week has seemed to go on forever. I think it might be because I have been counting down the days, hours and seconds until my Grandmother arrives this afternoon! She's coming to stay with George and I for the whole weekend and I couldn't be more excited.

Cannot wait for her to see our place and to go on a couple of adventures around Cardiff. I absolutely love when family come to stay. I just feel closer to home.

A few highlights over the past two months. For some reason, I constantly forget to use Instagram even though I love it. This leaves me with way less photos on my phone than I thought I had.

February's goal is to use it as much as possible. Especially since I dropped my camera the other day. Luckily it's ok, I just need to get a new filter for it since it smashed everywhere. Lucky I had it on otherwise my lens would have been smashed into a billion pieces.

Easy salads are my favourite lunch of all time. But I usually find it hard to incorporate salads into my winter diet, and find myself opting for soup or something hearty and filling. That was until I made this salad for lunch today. It's light but filling, refreshing and deliciously yummy. Especially since winter fruits are involved. Then with the addition of pine nuts and creamy feta cheese, the salad is near to perfection.

I will definitely be making it a lot more over the rest of this incredibly cold winter.

The weather has finally started to feel like winter here. And I am loving it. Even if it means I am frozen to my bones every second of the day. I just love the cold, wrapping up in big scarves kinda weather.

It also makes for the most beautiful early afternoon sunsets. Just like the one we witnessed on the roof of a car park the other day.

Today is Australia day. The day to celebrate being Australian. The best holiday of the year.

Since I'm not at home to celebrate, I thought I would make my all time favourite Australian treat, (I didn't even know it was Australian until I moved...I thought it was a universal treat) the Lamington. We used to have these amazing little cakes nearly every afternoon when we were growing up. They are delicious.

I followed this easy recipe and was so pleased with the result. I felt like I was back at home.

So, I don't really have a proper office...it's more just a desk to the side of the living room. But I am so happy that I now have an area in our apartment where I can properly sit and get down to business. I'm much more productive and efficient already.

Now that I have the desk, I've been inspired by all the incredible offices I've recently pinned. Especially these ones. They are all bright, cheerful, and uncluttered. They make sitting down at a desk all day working seem so much better.

First thing I need to do is create a beautiful inspiration board. Sounds like the perfect weekend plan.

One of the things I hate about winter dressing is having to wear stupid stockings when you want to wear pretty little dresses.

Although, when they are this pretty, with an adorable peter pan collar, the cutest little flower print pattern and the perfect amount of twirlingness, then I don't even care about having to wear stupid stockings. I just chuck on some boots and grab my trench and I'm out the door.

This was my first proper weekend in Cardiff since being back from Sydney. And of course, we spent it by sleeping in, relaxing in our trackies all afternoon, building a few new goodies (my desk and bedroom rail) after a trip to Ikea, and treating ourselves with a lovely bottle of red to go with some beautiful cheeses.

A few quiet scenes from around the Learmont/Thompson residence. Finally getting back into the swing of things here in Cardiff. Feeling less and less homesick every day, and feeling more and more appreciative of everything I have here. Even including the little things like new bedding and finally getting a proper coffee plunger. That's usually what matters though isn't it...? The Little Things.

This weekend looks like it's going be a lovely relaxing kind of one. Just how I like them. Is it a little sad that all I want to do is snuggle up in our new bedding?

So glad I have this little guy. Otherwise I would have probably frozen to death over the last few days since it has been so ridiculously cold.

I have never really praised this coat enough, but I have recently fallen back in love with it, not only because of it's keep-me-warm capabilities, but also because it has the most awesome hood. And it's super cozy.

Looks like the cold weather is here to stay so don't think I'll be taking it off any time soon.

Winter in the U.K? Too easy.

The answer to all the food dilemmas I was having in Cardiff. Abel & Cole! An organic food delivery company that supplies delicious, fresh and organic fruit and vegetables. As well as meats and poultry, fish, dairy and eggs and pretty much anything else that you need. I definitely recommend them.

Our delivery arrived yesterday and we already cooked up an amazing dinner last night. It's crazy how much eating healthy and fresh food makes such a difference to my happiness level. Thank you Abel & Cole!

Ever since George left Sydney a few days earlier than I did, my mum and I have been crazy excited to plan our family (plus George) adventure around Europe in 10 weeks time.

After having a few days in London and Cardiff, we will be heading straight to;

Paris

Where we will day trip to the Champagne district.

Before heading to Troyes on our way to..

Autun. Where we are staying for our two nights in Burgundy.

Next stop will be the Dorgogne. Staying in Sarlat for two nights but we will definitely visit Rocamadour (above).

We will then be in Bordeaux for one night,

And visit Biarritz to buy some espadrilles, on the way to;

San Sebastian, Spain!

Then Madrid, via a few gorgeous little Spanish villages.

And our last stop will of course be, Barcelona.

It's been so much fun planning this with my mum, even from the other sides of the world. We are constantly emailing back and forward and linking each other to more beautiful areas that we need to include. It is a little bit overwhelming.

If anyone has some recommendations, for anything...even if it's a little cafe in the back roads of the French countryside which we just can't miss out on, we would absolutely love to hear them.

weekend in birmingham.

A few scenes from a mini weekend in Birmingham. George had classes there over the weekend and I went to meet him after work on Saturday night at our hotel, where we cuddled up in robes and sipped on champagne. The perfect post-work treat.

As much as I dislike not spending much weekend time with George, I love that on these weekends I get to explore around cities I have never visited before. Even if exploring means sitting in Starbucks, sipping on a hot chocolate, listening to music and doodling in my Moleskine planner my mum bought me, because it was just way too cold to actually walk anywhere.

This was what I wore pretty much every day of the last week while at home. Although, most of the time I ditched the heels and ran around everywhere with no shoes. Has to be the best way to dress in summer. So casual and low-maintenance. I love it.

It's been a little hard to get back into wearing a million of layers, I mean yesterday, I arrived back at our apartment wearing sandals. My feet nearly broke off. But now I am cuddled up in a doona and ugg boots, sipping on a hot cup of tea. Winter definitely has some good points.

Summer food. The light and fresh produce, the incredible seafood and living on fruits and salads. I am lucky that I have a chef-like dad who's passion is cooking up beautifully healthy meals every lunch and dinner (he once even made us Thai beef salads to take to the cricket).

I seemed to have got a little of his passion from him, since on the day I left home, I decided to make a beautiful light lunch for my family which just shouted Sydney summer food. Seafood and fruit...what could be better? We ate it out on the back deck, with the sun beating down on us with chilled tunes in the background, before finishing off the sangria with our feet in the pool. I have to say that some of my fondness memories are doing exactly just that with my family.

Seared scallops with creme fraiche and wasabi crunch:
Adapted from Delicious Australia Dec 2011/Jan 2012 issue.
Serves 4.

4 tbsp creme fraiche

1tbsp chopped chives

Zest of 1 lime

2 tsp rice vinegar

2 tbsp vegetable oil

2 tbsp soy sauce

16 scallops, roe removed

1/4 cup wasabi peas, lighted crushed

1/2 cup spinach leaves

1/4 cup spring onions

1. Combine creme fraiche, chives, lime zest and rice vinegar. Season and set aside.

2. Whisk oil and sou sauce together. Set aside.

3. Heat a fry pan over high heat. Brush scallops with oil and season. In batches (if needed), cook scallops for 30 seconds each side or until golden but translucent in the centre.

4. To serve, distribute the spinach leaves and spring onions between each plate. Dollop creme fraiche mixture onto each plate and arrange scallops on top. Drizzle with soy sauce dressing and scatter with wasabi peas. Season, if needed.

Summer fruits white wine sangria.

2 peaches
Punnet raspberries

1/2 punnet blueberries

2 kiwi fruits

1/3 bottle of 750ml white wine

3/4 bottle of 2L lemonade

Pour the white wine into a jug, add the lemonade. Cut up the peaches and kiwi fruits and add them to the wine and lemonade mixture. Add the blueberries and raspberries. Serve between glasses and sip outside on the deck (or by the pool).

To be honest, I find it ridiculously hard to eat like this while living in the U.K. My experiences have led me to think and feel like the U.K. is purposefully trying to make it harder to eat healthy. With so many rows of frozen or ready meals in every single supermarket, or the fact that most fruits are packaged in plastic, or the fact that pretty much every restaurant or cafe is a chain...I find it hard to make the healthy choices I do when I am in Sydney. It might be because I live right in city centre, I'm not sure.

Comparatively, everything in Sydney feels fresher and healthier. There are hardly any chain restaurants or cafes (there's only 22 Starbucks in the whole of the country), I find it hard to find any ready-made meals even in huge supermarkets, the fruit and produce is unbeatable - we are lucky with that, I know. It's hard to explain, but it just feels like leading a healthy lifestyle is placed at a much higher priority then in the U.K (or specifically where I have lived; Nottingham and Cardiff. I'm not including London, since it's big enough to have endless options of healthy eating.) It might be the fact that when I am home, the food we eat is mostly paid for by my parents - that definitely is a major factor, since generally, healthier eating is usually a little more expensive.

But is there any advice anyone can give me? People who have lived in the U.K. their whole lives? or anyone who's thought the same and have found a helpful solution?

I hate comparing the two, since there are so many things about the U.K. which I love, but this is just something I have been struggling with and really wanted to share. Thank you, in advance, for your advice.

why i call sydney home part II.

Scenes from the week at home after George left on New Years day. It was a lot more chilled and relaxed with multiple trips to the beach, late afternoon drinks at beautiful wine bars, and just generally appreciating every second spent with my amazing family in the most amazing city.

I am currently sitting in our Cardiff apartment after over 30 hours of travelling from the other side of the world. It's mind-boggling to me that the trip back home, which I was so looking forward to, is already over. Back to reality.

Now just waiting until my family come out here to visit us. 10 weeks and counting...

spit to manly.

As much as I hate living so far away from Sydney and my family, in some ways it is the best thing ever. It means when I do come home, we get out and discover things about Sydney which I had never bothered with or got around to doing before. Like the Spit to Manly walk.

Just like the Bondi to Bronte walk, the Spit to Manly is an insanely awesome day out in Sydney. The scenery is seriously unbeatable.

Has to be the best spot for a set of swings..

To end an almost perfect day? Late arvo drinks at Hugos with one of my best friends and her boyfriend which ended up turning into a pizza night. That was what topped it off. It was perfect.

Especially when we got a sunset like that. Can't believe days like this even exist.

new years weekend in sydney.

How is it already Wednesday night here? And I have only just put up photos from the weekend. Love the pace of life in Sydney over summer where we relax and chill on the beach where time feels super slow. But it feels like time is speeding up behind our backs...if that makes any sense?

But back to what the post is really about; last weekend. It was insanely amazing. Filled with so many of my favourite people, favourite places and favourite foods, how could it not be?

Happy new year! How did you ring in the new year? I think mine was my all time favourite new years eve. We had a chilled night at a family friends place in Mosman with a sit down dinner for 10 of us before heading down to the water to see the fireworks on the Harbour Bridge. It was so perfect, being surrounded by my family, on a beautiful summers night in Sydney and getting to kiss George when midnight came.

George is now back in Cardiff (he left on New Years day as he has to go back to work tomorrow) but I still have a week left at home where real Sydney summer seems to have begun and we will be spending pretty much every day at the beach. What an incredible way to start the year.

I don't think I have ever been more inspired by the start of a new year. For a fresh start and to actually follow through with my resolutions. This year I have about a thousand of them but have summed them all up into; to be the best version of myself.

Wishing everyone an incredible 2012 filled with happiness and love. So excited to share it with you.

Now...off to the beach.

January: Started the year living at the beach in both Sydney and Noosa. Spent every second with my mum and dad (Eddy was unfortunately ski instructing in Canada). We went Glamping with family friends before I flew to the other side of the world to be with George.

February: George and I finally got to Paris for the weekend after the debacle of me losing my passport. I met the beautiful Megan after we realised we were living in the same city! We traveled down the London to meet Alexander Wang.

March: After a long winter in Nottingham, the sun finally came out. Which made it much easier to go for strolls around the University campus. I baked many batches of choc chip cookies.

April: George and I went down to London for a beautiful weekend. We became addicted with making smoothies every morning. George was constantly studying for his finals. I made homemade scones to have while watching the Royal Wedding.

May: Georges constant studying meant many solo walks for me, never without my camera. And a lot of yummy baking, including these chocolate caramel slices. George finally finished his exams and we were ecstatic after how hard he worked.

June: I turned 22. George and I did our first London to Sydney trip together. When we arrived in Sydney, we spent every single day with my parents (Eddy was unfortunately ski instructing in Thredbo). They are memories which I will never forget.

July: We celebrated Christmas in July. Went skiing at my second home. Celebrated George's 22nd birthday. Had so many beautiful days in Sydney before George and I flew back to London and went sailing in Sicily with his family.

August: Spent the days jumping off the side of the boat, meeting beautiful dolphins, and twirling in summer skirts. As soon as we got back from Sicily, George and I moved to Cardiff together for his job.

September: We settled into our little apartment. I started work at Reiss. We went on beautiful strolls around Cardiff castle and went on little weekend adventures.

October: I fell in love with Bath after a weekend adventure there. George and I celebrated our four year anniversary in Bristol.

November: We cosied up our apartment and drank so many Christmas coffees from Starbucks. Did maybe a little too much winter baking considering we knew we were going to be in the Sydney summer in less than a month.

December: It seems I have ended the year the same way I started it. In Sydney. But this time it has been even better. I have everyone here that I care about the most. George flew out to spend a summer Christmas with my family. Eddy hasn't gone ski instructing this season. It has been perfect.

2011 has been incredible. Thank you so much for reading and following along this year with me.

The Sydney beaches. One of the things about home which I miss the most when I am living on the other side of the planet. Unfortunately we haven't had many opportunities to spend lazy afternoons there since the weather hasn't been the typical hot and sunny days of the Sydney summer. Luckily yesterday was perfect, and we spent the day at Palm beach with Carla and her mum, Fee.

Falling asleep with the sun beaming down on you, listening to the waves crashing and the sound of the cicadas, the smell of suncream...I could live at the beach. We finished up with a late afternoon lunch at Beach Road restaurant.

Strolling around Sydney neighbourhoods is one of my favourite things to do when I'm home. Especially when around the cute little streets of Paddington which is where we were yesterday before heading to the 20-20 cricket at the SCG. Such an awesome way to spend an afternoon in Syd.

We just arrived home from another incredible day out in the city so I am finding it pretty hard to string normal amount of sentences together since we sat in the sun all day and drank maybe a little too many glasses of white wine. Another awesome way to spend an afternoon in this city (or any city for that matter).

From evidence above, I clearly seem to think that my left side is my best side haha.

Last Friday, we finally got the chance to check out the gorgeous little wine bar that is 121 BC. So extremely happy that we did, since we have all fallen in love with it. With only one long sharing table nearly taking up the whole space, the wall filled with over 300 Italian wines, scrumptious little bites of food that compliments the beautiful wines, the most knowledgeable and friendly waiters, and the magical ambiance, I don't know how you couldn't fall in love with it.

A few scenes of the most amazing past two days. Including; a cozy little Christmas Eve party where we made mulled wine, eggnog and cookies to bring a little northern hemisphere Christmasness to our summery southern hemisphere one. Christmas breakfast with our beautiful old next door neighbours and Christmas lunch in the sun, out on the deck with all the family.

It couldn't have been a better day. It made me so grateful that I was able to come home to spend the best holiday of the year with all the people who I love and care for the most.

Merry Christmas from down in Australia.

The last few days leading up have been so incredibly hectic doing so many fun festive things, that it feels so weird when Christmas day come and goes so quickly (it's already 10.30pm here). We spent the day at our house, outside on the deck, in the pool sipping on multiple glasses of champagne with so many extended family members while the sun was blazing (finally!). It was the most amazing day and reminds me that while it's not the conventional cold Christmas; it's still the best holiday of the year and it has to be spent with friends and family...at home.

We are now all passed out on the couch due to way to much overeating. Exactly how Christmas should be.

Scenes from yesterdays helicopter ride around Sydney with one of our oldest family friends who owns the fricken thing.

It was hands down, the most amazing day. I am now convinced I need one in my life. Just to be able to make sneaky trips up the coast for lunch. We flew up to Newcastle (after stopping at the Hunter Valley to fill up on fuel and to have a fly over the beautiful vineyards), had a little bite to eat and arrived back in Sydney at 2.30pm.

I don't even know how it has been over 10 days since my last post. Whenever I come home, the days pass way too quickly and I never seem to know what time it is.

It has been over a week since I landed back home. The days have been filled with finally getting over jet lag, getting used to the familiar sound of hearing the cicadas, the kookaburra's laughing getting bitten by mosquitoes. I have absolutely loved these days at home where I have had nothing more to worry about than the fact that the "summer" weather hasn't been up to scratch.

But it is of course, spending time with my family that always makes me feel the best version of myself. On Sunday we had a family BBQ with people I have known throughout my whole life. It turned into the craziest day, turn night event where nakedness (from my brother) and karaoke was involved well into the early hours of yesterday morning. Those are the kind of days which I seem to miss the most while I'm living on the other side of the world.

Today, was on a complete other level though. George and I went flying around Sydney in one of my oldest family friends helicopter. We casually traveled up to Newcastle for lunch before returning back home to Sydney with the whole rest of the afternoon to spare. The photo above was taken when we flew over the Harbour Bridge (as you do). Their will definitely be more photos to come.

This post has just been a little catch up. I can't even remember the last time it has been this long since I have posted. There will be much more regular posts now that George and I are back into the swing of things.

Even though I hear it's the coldest start to a Sydney summer in 51 years (or something crazy like that), I still plan on spending my days doing the most summery of activities. The ones above are just the beginning. I know my mum has a list, a couple pages long, of beautiful ways to spend our holiday in the best city in the world. Only 3 more days of waiting....

Just arrived back home from the hairdressers where I got pretty close to 30cm taken off. It feels so good. Fresh and new and super healthy. Exactly what my hair needed since I haven't even touched my hair since April 2010 (my hairdresser could not believe it!).

I think it might take me a little while to get used to how short it is, but I am so happy I took the plunge.

I'm back after an unexpected little blogging break. Last week, with everything that happened with losing our flights and the stress of having to find new ones, I was feeling quite down and uninspired. Which meant that blogging was the last thing that I wanted to do.

But since a brand new Monday morning has come around again, I am feeling much more myself. It's a beautiful crisp winter's day and I can't wait to get outside, grab a coffee and take in all the beautiful Christmas decorations in town. Those four days, definitely did me some good.

And we are back in business. After an insanely stressful few days, it has been sorted. We are going home for Christmas.

It's funny how I didn't even realise how much I needed this trip home, until it was temporarily snatched from me. I started thinking about what it would be like to stay here for Christmas but the thought was incomprehensible. After all, Christmas is about being with the people you love. I'm just so lucky to have the most beautiful family at home who have helped us get out there.

I'm so incredibly excited to get back home to the city which I belong in. To have three weeks of summer. Living at the beach, eating only fresh fruit and seafood, hosting BBQ's out on our deck, wearing only summer dresses and bikinis, and spending every second with my family. I can't wait to share it with you.

This weekend, a major spanner was thrown in the works. Sunday morning, we found out that the travel agent we have booked our flights home to Sydney through have gone bust/is a scam. This means, we have lost our flights, are in the process of trying to get our money back (which could take up to a couple of months) and in the process of trying to find alternative flights home (they seemed to have tripled in price).

It was/still is absolutely devastating. I can't believe any company could do that to so many people, especially around Christmas.

The awful news called for a brisk walk around the castle to clear our heads and to conjure up our plan of attack. Fresh air always makes me feel better, and will sometimes even put a smile back on my face. Now we have to get back to finding new flights. I'll keep you updated.

This week, it has been pretty difficult trying to find the time to snap up some outfit photos. I have also been feeling extremely uninspired by what I have in my closet. I always seem to feel this way when I know I will soon be leaving one climate and going to the complete opposite one on the other side of the world in only a few short weeks.

I spent the day in the kitchen, baking up a cheeky little pear and apple crumble. The most delectable breakfast/dessert (with the addition of some ice cream) and will make your house smell so incredible. However, it's not the most photogenic. I put so much of the crumble on top (because that's my fave part) and it kind of turned into some sort of brown concoction. Tasted a lot more than that though!

Just got back from going to see Breaking Dawn. Feeling like I need a little lie down...it was so intense. I'll be back with the recipe in the morning.

Recently, I feel like I haven't been living in the moment. I have just been constantly dreaming about being somewhere else. Whether that's dreaming about being back home in Sydney, or on a ski trip to the Swiss Alps, or going to London for the weekend, I just haven't really been focusing on everything amazing around me.

That was until this weekend. George and I spent cozy days inside sipping on soup while watching cheesy Christmas movies. We visited Cardiff's Winter Wonderland, hung fairy lights all around our apartment and even put up our own miniature Christmas tree.

I now feel totally content on where I am right now. (But that doesn't mean that I am so incredibly excited to be back home in Sydney in 25 days time.)

I am an avid Aero addict. So the chocolate and mint combo is nothing new to me, but also something which I will never get sick of. When I stumbled upon this recipe, I knew it was something I had to make myself. So glad I did, since they are the most incredible little bites of heaven and created the most beautiful smell all throughout the apartment.

I have been recently daydreaming like it's my job. And these are the sort of things which my mind wanders to. Everything from road trips to the mountains for an awesome ski trip, to a fresh looking salad or to a beautifully decorated living room. Monday night and my ridiculously relaxed three day weekend is coming to an end. The lazy mood started Friday night when I never got around to writing a post. And the mood continued all weekend where I chose to watch ski movie after ski movie over actually getting up and out of bed. Since George was studying for an upcoming exam, this seemed like the perfect time to get lost in the mountains.

We left the apartment, only to check out the awesome Christmas markets, go for a stroll through the park or grab a quick coffee together at Starbucks. It is definitely going to be difficult getting back into the swing of things tomorrow.

Whenever I wear this beanie I get the biggest hit of nostalgia of living as a ski bum, working as a ski instructor. Especially since it's starting to get ridiculously cold and that fresh winter air smell has come back. It automatically reminds me of the pre-ski season excitement.

Since on the topic of skiing, this post is a little later than usual as I have spent all night trying to find cheap ski trips for the end of February next year. It seems, without a free season pass, it is outrageously expensive. Anyone have a chalet in the French Alps you are willing to lend us for a little weekend?

I took these photos this afternoon at around 3pm when it was nearly pitch black outside. Actually the whole day was nearly pitch black thanks to the constant rain and miserable weather. I am not complaining though as this means it's the perfect time to spend all day in the kitchen and make something special.

This has to be the easiest and quickest little sweet snack or dessert. I have a major fondness for the classic Oreo, so when I found this recipe I knew I had to make it. So happy I did, since this is going to be my new "go-to" recipe for afternoon baking.

These photos were taken on Saturday night in Bristol after our romantic dinner date. This was the outfit I chose to wear and it instantly made me feel extremely feminine and I loved the old Hollywood vibe of the figure-hugging pencil skirt. It's not usually my typical style so it felt nice to kind of step out of my comfort zone.

Today is exactly four years since I finished high school and exactly four years since George and I have been together. It's crazy to think that only four short years ago we were just a couple of young 18 year olds just out of school and from completely othersides of the world. I couldn't be happier that it was him who I randomly bumped into outside a North Sydney bar. I am so excited to spending the next four years with him and sharing all our future plans together. I can't imagine living my life with anyone more perfect for me than him.

Weekend #2 in Bristol and I now feel like a local. As soon as I arrived late Saturday night, George and I went out for a romantic meal to a gorgeous Italian restaurant, called Prego. That was the perfect way to start the weekend.

On Sunday; I climbed hills, I ducked into adorable cafe's and delis, I didn't stop taking photos, I breathed in the fresh autumn air, I seemed to think every colourful house was just as adorable as the one before it, I window shopped along Park St and through Cabot Circus, but most of all, I had the best time exploring the beautiful city all by myself. It was perfect. I didn't want to leave.

But it has taken me a while to get back into reality since all day today, I have had the worst case of wanderlust. I haven't been able to stop dreaming about countless places I need to visit. Already looking forward to next weekend and seeing where it will take me.

I think I could become a professional daydreamer. Especially when the daydreams are revolved around clothes. Way too much of my time is consumed by dreaming up future outfits.

The recent items which I have found myself dreaming of are winter classics that can be worn again and again, can be mixed and matched and can be worn for many different occasions. Including the classic pea coat, the slouchy beanie (which can also be replaced by a cap after seeing how amazing Christine from Fash-n-Chips looks in hers, and these girls too), the perfect cozy knit, the burgundy coloured jeans and the forever trusty peter pan collared dress.

For the first time, I have also become totally and utterly obsessed with every single style of boot. I don't know why I never have been before (it might be the fact that I am a Sydney girl and I don't think I have ever owned a pair of over the ankle boots before), but this season, I can't get enough. I've covered all types here with the wellies for the British rain, the flat knee highs for weekend shopping and the high-heeled ankle boots for a more dressed up feel.

I know I wrote here, that I find it much easier to dress for summer, but ever since I have let my mind wander to all these gorgeous wintery possibilities (I've got a lot more swimming around)...I have never been more inspired. What are you guys excited about wearing throughout the colder months?

Winter is starting to feel like it is creeping up upon us. While we were taking these photos, there was the most insane windstorm which sort-of explains why there are only two photos today as my face was scowling in every other photo.

But these two pictures give a rough idea of how much fun this skirt is. I could twirl around in it all day.

I spent this weekend in Bristol. Another city on Cardiff's doorstep and one which I was dying to visit and go explore.

But since George was working all weekend, I had to go out and discover Bristol all by myself. I was up for the challenge, but it turns out I'm not the best solo explorer. I ended up spending all my time in cafe's reading my book, or wandering aimlessly around Cabot Circus.

I think I was put off by all the insane hills and the in-between weather. The weather where you are dressed perfectly for the temperature at the bottom of the hill, but once you trek all the way up, you wish you worn a bikini for the day.

George has to work all weekend in Bristol again next weekend, so I get another chance to wander around the city. Does anyone have any recommendations of what is a must?

TGIF...This week has been quite the test. I have come down with quite a strong head cold recently and it has been making the normal day-to-day activities a lot harder.

Luckily our John Lewis vouchers arrived early this week and we were able to go crazy and buy so many homeware items which have been on our list. It was the perfect little pick-me-up and all our new items has definitely put a massive smile on my face.

I am really enjoying this decorating process. Even though I know I have to be really patient and it is such a gradual process, I love the part of finding the items which I know will be perfect for our place. Then when we finally get them, it feels like another part of our little puzzle is being put together. It's such a new adventure for George and I - decorating our first very own place together...so I better enjoy it.

This weekend, we are off to Bristol. George will be working the whole weekend, but I will be wandering around with my camera, reading my book while sipping on hot chocolates in cute little cafes, going window shopping, and generally just getting lost and discovering a new city. I'm also excited to get snuggled up in our hotel bath robes and watch some movies and pop a bottle of champagne.

Since George and I will be travelling back to Sydney in two months time for Christmas, when it is all hot, sunny and beachy weather we have decided to go on a low carb, high protein diet to get our bodies ready for endless days by the sea wearing nothing more than a bikini or boardies.

Enter this recipe for a skinny omelette from 101 Cookbooks. It's easy, healthy thanks to the greens, high in protein thanks to the eggs and pretty much absent of any carbohydrates. Perfect for an easy mid-week dinner.

A layered and casual outfit for weekend strolls around the castle. So happy I bought this top at the beginning of the year. It has been so handy and I've worn it on way too many occasions - but that's why I love it.

George and I just got back from a shopping spree around John Lewis with £300 worth of gift vouchers from George's work. We got everything from Le Creuset frying pans to table cloths. So much amazing stuff, so we are off to unwrap and play with it all.

This weekend was incredibly relaxing. We slept in, woke up and watched the rugby (unfortunately both teams we were supporting, Wales who played on Saturday and Australia, who played on Sunday, lost) went and got Sunday morning espressos, strolled through gorgeous Castle grounds, spent Sunday afternoon in the park reading for hours.

As amazing as it was. The whole time I was wishing I was on the other side of the world celebrating my mum's 50th with family and friends at the massive party she had. The one thing I hate about living here in the U.K is that I am so far away from my family; at least a 23hour plane flight away with a minimum cost of £1500p.p for a return. It makes casually popping over back home pretty much impossible.

At least George and I will be there in exactly 2 months time for 3 weeks of summer. Counting down the days...

Throughout the week, I always feel like it's going super slowly. But once Friday night hits I always think "how is this week already over?" Does that just happen to me?

This weekend will be a mixer of work and chilling (my favourite past-time). I am loving work so much though that it doesn't actually feel like work. Just going in and working for a brand which I love, working with awesome people and having long chats with lovely customers couldn't be better. So if you are ever in Cardiff, come into Reiss and say hello!

Currently watching Big Brother (George is to blame for my addiction), sipping on some wine and eating some chocolate. Perfect end to the week. Hoping everyone has an amazing weekend!

Late afternoon strolls around town, after George and I both finish work, have become something of a regular occurrence. Whether we are out to pick up dinner and or bottle of wine, or just generally wander and catch up on each others day, it is such a nice way to end the working part of the day and begin the chilling part of the evening. It's also the perfect time to snap up some outfit posts before it starts to get pitch black at 3pm. I feel I need to take advantage of these longer days while we have them.

Yesterday, we got these photos of my all time favourite item in my closet. Not even just from the pants category. I'm including every category. George agrees. They are his fave item of mine too. They are the perfect pop of colour, the perfect style and the perfect fit. I could wear them all day, everyday.

I loved styling them rather classic with the white tee and the trench, but then adding in the glittery shoes (since these are my second fave item in my closet) for a little glamour, and an unexpected addition of a beanie with the funnest oversized pom-pom.

Here's a little photo overload of our day spent in Bath. George and I were planning to stay for the whole weekend but since we were so disorganised, when it came to the booking a hotel part two days before the weekend, all the good ones were all booked out.

However, this didn't matter since Cardiff is only a 1 hour train ride away. We got there near midday and left after having the most amazing dinner at Firehouse Rotisserie. Perfect plan B as it meant that we got a lot of exploring time throughout the day and evening before returning back to our own place.

Although, next time (yes, there will definitely be a next time), we are planning to stay for a whole weekend and check out the spas which we missed out on this time. They looked amazing and I've heard are unmissable. Lucky we live so close.

It was the perfect day exploring more of the U.K! It's a part of the reason why I love living here. Everything is so close and easy to get to. It makes discovering new cities, towns and villages something of a regular occurrence and I am so excited to visit more.

This is my go to outfit when it comes to autumn. Then when autumn turns into winter all I do is chuck a coat on over an outfit like this and I'm out the door.

When looking at photos and outfits around the web I am always drawn to and seem to be more instantly inspired by the more casual and laid back outfits where the girl seems so comfortable in her skin. I don't know about you guys but sometimes I feel like it's harder to put one of these casual outfits together than one which is more dressed up. Does this happen to you guys too?
