reunited...the world can continue spinning.

F-f-f-finalllllly! George and I are no strangers to long distance; coming from the complete opposite sides of the world means that it's eventually going to occur at some point. But after having the past year and a half of comfortably living in each others pockets, this recent four months of being apart was pretty difficult to readjust to. Funnily enough though, it wasn't nearly as hard as previous times. Maybe it's because we've been together longer now, or because we didn't actually know the date I was coming back; it could have been tomorrow or in 4 weeks so that definitely kept us on our toes. Either way, I definitely agree with the saying that "distance means nothing when someone means so much".
I think I have only once briefly mentioned the little love story of George and I on here, but I thought about it heaps when I was in Sydney apart from him. We had one of those serious chance meetings. It was the day I had finished high school and was out with a few girlfriends, where we randomly bumped into a couple of English guys outside a bar. George and I started talking, and we talked and talked and talked without actually going into the bar until a couple of hours later. The next day, I could.not.stop talking about "the English guy" (my best friend Gracey would tell you that), and I finally received a message from him late that night. I got the most insane case of butterflies and knew then (if not even earlier) that there was a strong chance he could be the real deal! We went on a beautiful date down by Sydney harbour the following week...and the rest was history!
The crazy thing to me is that if we hadn't bumped into each other that night, we probably never would have met! He was living in Sydney's inner west, I live in Sydney's northern suburbs and there would have been the slimmest of all slim chances that we would have bumped into each other somewhere else. It wasn't like we went to school together, or were studying together, or met through mutual friends, or were family friends where you get millions of chances to meet. It was just pure chance. Even if my friends and I entered the bar through another way, we might never had met. It's mind blowing to think because I can't even imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't met him.
Because now here I am living in London with him, and I am so incredibly excited about our London life together!

  16. Hi Sophie--I randomly stumbled on your blog ages ago and have enjoyed reading it for quite awhile from my home in Michigan but have never commented.

I just wanted to tell you how happy it made me reading your story- I work a ton of hours at my job and sometimes feel like I'll never meet anyone since I barely even get out, so it's somehow comforting to know that it can just happen in an instant regardless of where you are, and that's that! So thanks for reminding me that anything is possible and brightening my day from across the pond!
