tasting summer

(Zara jumper, H&M skirt, Converse)

I haven't touched my computer once today. I thought I would have had withdrawals considering we have been joined at the hip over the past three months but...it was just the best. The sun was out, George and I went on a major walk, bought a few picnic ingredients and lay in the sun at the park for the whole afternoon. It's pretty crazy just how much the sun can affect my mood. I love summer.

Off to have a glass of wine while watching Geordie Shore (haha). But in the meantime here are a few photos of what I have been currently wearing. Can't take this outfit off as I feel it is the perfect transeasonal look. Plus it couldn't be more comfortable. Happy Tuesday.

P.S more answers from last weeks post are coming tomorrow.

weekend in nottingham.

Possibly the laziest weekend in the recent past. But having a partner in crime (George) made it so much better then every other weekend for the past few months. Rainy days meant not getting out of bed until after midday and playing endless games of monopoly while sipping on gin and tonics - just because we can.

In the tiny little breaks between rain we ventured outside and came across some beautifully enchanted places on the university grounds and meeting the most adorable baby chicks ever. Looking forward to more weekends like these.

P.S Some of these photos were taken using my iPhone so the quality is noticeably worse.

it's friday and this is whats making me happy

THAT GEORGE HAS FINISHED UNIVERSITY!

We just got back from a dinner filled with cocktails, champagne, wine and endless amounts of food...but I am not even celebrated out yet! There are many more celebratory posts to come!

I am just so incredibly proud of George who has been studying so so hard for the last three months. This means that we are about to start the next chapter of our lives...after holidaying to Sydney and Sicily - I am so excited. We are both so happy!

Happy Weekend!

strawberry and blueberry summer cake from smitten kitchen

I was planning to feature a healthy, non-dessert and non-baking type recipe today. That was until I stumbled upon one of my all time favourite food blogs, Smitten Kitchen, and saw this cake. My healthy recipe plan went right out the window. Thank goodness for that though, because this cake is sensational. Plus, it has fruit in it, so that's healthy...isn't it?

I followed Deb's recipe word by word, except making one adjustment by adding blueberries in with the strawberries too, but I can imagine it would still be super scrumptious sans blueberries. The recipe was so easy to follow and I was extremely impressed with the outcome - I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

almost celine

(Asos pants, necklace and heels, Zara jumper worn over shoulders, Bonds singlet, Marcs bag)

Celine's S/S 2011 collection was definitely one of my favourites of the whole season. There were just so many covetable pieces which were so relaxed and summery. Especially all the billowy wide-leg trousers. My favourites were these ones which looked so effortlessly cool and stylish but so comfortable at the same time.

Unfortunately with Celine's perfectness comes incredibly high prices, so when I found an almost identical pair a few months ago (had to get them hemmed nearly 10cm haha otherwise I would have worn them multiple times on here already) on one of my daily Asos window shops, I had to get them. And I am in love. They are even more comfortable than they look. Perfection.

Hope you guys are having a great day. I am off food shopping now to get ingredients to bake the yummiest looking cake. I'll share it with you tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!

What is your favourite time of the day?
Has to be morning. I wouldn't consider myself a morning person of any kind - I love sleeping in too much haha, but when I do wake up early I love it. But I also love afternoons, as long as its summer and the afternoon seems like it goes on forever.

How do you like your eggs?
Haha, I like my eggs the opposite of sunny side up - I'm not sure what thats called though. I also love them in omelette form.

What is your shoe size?
My shoe size is 6.5 in US size and a 4.5 in UK size.

Will you ever get over your ASOS obsession?
Haha I love this question. And no! I don't think I ever will get over it. I don't think any other high street shop beats the quality of the clothes. And it's just way too easy especially when living in the UK. It's always so reliable and arrives without any complications. I love it!

When did you learn to ski?
I learnt to ski when I was 3 years old in Australia. A little ski resort called Thredbo - 6 hour drive south of Sydney (I ski instructed there for two seasons). My dad learnt to ski when he was little too and loved it so much so he wanted us to learn as kids as well (it is so much easier to learn as a kid). So when we were growing up we had annual ski trips down to Thredbo which we loved and still love.

What is your favourite cocktail?
I think I love every type of cocktail haha, but my favourite has to be either a Strawberry daiquiri or a pina colada. They are both so yum.

Do you have any pets?
I don't have any pets here in the UK, George and I are dying to get a puppy - hopefully around September time. I two family pets back home in Sydney - a dog called Russell and a cat called Lola. Russell is the craziest little thing ever and I miss him so much when I'm away from home.

-------------------

So here are the first few answers to the questions from last week. I'll be answering a few each Tuesday for the next few weeks. I hope you guys like the vlog, I was pretty nervous doing it - it took my like half a day to actually make one which I liked haha.

In other news, my computer charger has decided to suddenly break down on me so my computer is dead and can't be turned on which is annoying me to no end. I am using George's computer in the mean time, but he still needs it 90% of the day for his study so I can only use it a tiny bit. Hopefully my charger will be fixed soon so I can get back to reading a billion different blogs a day.

Happy Tuesday!

weekend in photos.

Images of this weekends most document-worthy activities. Activities including; taking pretty sunset photos, impromptu Saturday night takeaway curry, finally wearing an H&M skirt I got ages ago but just recently got hemmed, endless cups of night time tea, watching George constantly steal my iPhone to play stick cricket in his study breaks, a new Zara jumper and Asos necklace (some more early birthday presents from my parents), and wearing pigtail plaits and a baseball cap just for fun.

Happy Monday! What did you guys get up to this weekend?

P.S I know I keep saying this but I just can not wait until this Friday! Next weekend's post will be a lot more about adventures and exploring and to say I am excited is a major understatement!

it's friday and pinterest is making me happy

So I am a bit late to join the party but I have finally got my own Pinterest account. I've actually had it for a little while but hadn't "pinned" anything or ordered anything into their own "boards" until now. Once you get started, it is so addictive, which I'm sure a lot of you know by now, and it's the reason I have nothing to post about today as I have been on it all day collection inspiration rather than going and finding my own inspiration haha. But I am loving it. It's so amazing having an online inspiration folder where stunning new photos pop up all the time. I am yet to figure out how to find people to following them but you can follow me HERE and send me the link to your account in the comment section and I'll follow you too. The more inspiration the better.

Happy Friday! I am so happy it's the weekend because we are another day closer to George finishing his exams. This time next week I'll be ecstatic! George and I will be out for a beautiful celebratory dinner and I just cannot wait. What have you got planned for the weekend?

another asos item that has stolen my heart

(Asos blazer, old Topshop cropped tee, Queens Wardrobe shorts, Sportsgirl sandals)

You will definitely be seeing this white blazer in many many outfit posts to come! I am seriously in love with it. I have been looking for the perfect one for so long so when I saw this one on Asos (of course it's Asos) I kept it in my basket for days upon days, refreshing it every two hours so it wouldn't go out of stock, before asking my parents if they would like to buy it for me as an early birthday present (I'm 22 in three weeks ahh) and of course they obliged because they are the best parents ever haha.

When taking outfit photos, I always try to find pretty locations which make the clothes look even prettier but seeing as we are sans an automobile here in Nottingham it's hard to find fresh and new locations to take a few photos. And since George is my personal photographer, its hard to get him to take the time to snap away paparazzi style as he is glued to his books now that his exams are well underway (2 down, 2 to go - we are half way!). So this means for the next few outfit posts, our street is going to be the featured background.

Just a little update about the Net-A-Porter competition - I just found out that Charlotte won. The girl also wearing a midi skirt. I'm really happy she won as I loved her look and think she looks gorgeous. I was just so so incredibly happy that I was even considered as a finalist, so I am not upset in the slightest. And it just makes me want to enter a billion more competitions. Thank you so much to everyone who "liked" my look, you are the best!

Happy Thursday! So happy this week is going fast. This time next week George will only have one more exam on the Friday and then we can celebrate like crazy! There will be way too much champagne consumed but I just can.not.wait! Hope everyone is having a great day.

P.S I am loving the questions and cannot wait to answer them. Keep them coming by going to this post.

chocolate caramel slice

I love chocolate and caramel together. But this is no recent epiphany or anything. This is a combination I have been obsessed with for a long time (I've even featured it twice before on this blog, here and here). The cause for this rather indulgent obsession lies with...my high school canteen. I used to have one of these per day while at high school. The canteen had the most scrumptious homemade ones that I just couldn't resist. Since I am no longer at school, my favourite little treat is not readily available anymore (which is kind of lucky since I think I would be around 200kgs if I still ate one of these per day) so I had to bake some up. They didn't look as pretty as the ones from back in my young teenage years, but they tasted just as beautiful, if not better. It's true... absence makes the heart - or taste buds - grow stronger!

Recipe adapted from this recipe. I warn you, the refrigerating for three hours (I've just realised I have written regridgerate on the recipe picture haha. It's how we write it in Australia.) is absolute torture! But it's definitely worth it in the end.

(Recipe written by me using Paint. Baking drawing found via Google images)

I also warn you that if you are on any kind of summer diet right now then I wouldn't bake these until after the bikini season is over. They are impossible to turn down. I kept telling myself that I was only going to have one, but we all know that never works. But as I said...they are worth it.
