caprese salad bruschetta

The sun came out today, however, it was so incredibly windy that I stayed in to make the yummiest bruschetta ever while sitting in a sun-drenched kitchen watching the crazy wind from the other side of the window.

I have been the biggest bruschetta fan ever since I can remember. I would sometimes order it as an entree and a main course because I was that addicted. It's the ultimate summery nibble so since we are getting closer to summer with every day that passes (hello...how has it already gotten to the last day of March?) I thought I would make it this afternoon but change it up a little bit by including my favourite salad. Perfection.

I used this recipe which I found via my new favourite website which I mentioned yesterday (Taste Spotting) and it was exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely be making it again and again as we get even closer to summer.

second little treasure

(ASOS oversized tee, Zara trousers, Converse)

Comfiest trousers ever and another item from Zara. Worn in the most casual way ever with an oversized tee and converse for a relaxed Wednesday afternoon. Cannot wait to wear them in a more dressy way with heels and maybe a top like this (when the shopping diet is over).

George and I just ordered a blender today to be able to make smoothies for healthy breakfasts when the weather gets warmer again - its gotten all wintery again all of a sudden - cannot wait. I have been looking at all different sorts of recipes all day. On Tastespotting, the best food website ever. I'm sure you foodies out there already know about it, but I only found out about a week or so ago and I am seriously obsessed.

Hope everyone has had a great day...one day closer to the weekend. I am so excited for a weekend down in London, I miss that city so much.

p.s I'm planning on having a giveaway soon so stay tuned

glamping

"Glamping" i.e glam camping. The best way to spend a few days with family friends in the summer. This is where I was at the end of January. Camping by the most gorgeous beach ever, with two families I have known my whole life where we spent the days walking around the rocks, playing "Ginska, Finska and Swimska" (which is playing Finska - the best beach game ever - while drinking gin and tonics and then to top it all off jump in the water for a swim after), making delicious meals every night, watches sunrises over the beach and playing Dictionary way into the early hours of the morning. As I said...the best way to spend a few days in the summer.

Half of these photos belong to Carla who was there on behalf of one of the families. We had a nightmare in terms of photos - my camera battery died and I forgot my charger (I would have been able to charge it up if I had remembered as we had power - see it was glam camping) and when Carla tried to get her photos onto her computer they all went missing. Luckily she figured it out and we have photos now for my Tuesday night post.

Carla has actually just recently started a blog too, find it here! She is such a gorgeous person who I have known all my life so I promise you, you will love her blog. She was also in the same year at the same school as Emma (my brother's girlfriend) so when George and I go to Sydney there will be quite a few photos of the three of us. Can.Not.Wait!

weekend in photos.

Trust the English weather to turn all gloomy come the weekend. However, it was a good excuse to stay inside and not leave the house with the only exception of going to see Limitless yesterday afternoon (which I loved) and going to the gym a few times together. I am getting into the swing of the gym again with summer coming up. However, I still find the motivation so hard and would just so rather stay at home and watch tv haha. But then after the gym I feel so so good. Why do I never remember that feeling before I go? Does it happen to you guys too?

Other than going to the movies and the gym, George and I did absolutely nothing which was perfect as next weekend we will be running around London (yay we are going down for the weekend) so this was an amazingly chilled end to the week.

I also sort of broke the shopping diet, already, I know...but do £2 ballerina flats from Primark count? I don't reckon haha. I needed them to compliment the rolled up jeans for a Friday afternoon walk (yes, Friday afternoon's are included in my weekends).

it's friday and this is whats making me happy

Current happy things which are making me smile include; afternoon cloud patterns, the cutest little friendly cat I found on the walk home, consecutive sunny days...it means days like these, afternoon meet ups with Megan chatting over coffee at our favourite place, perfectly still water to be able to take photos of life-like reflections, afternoon walks around the lake with George wearing my favourite dress.

This weekend will be nice and relaxing, just the way I like them.We have no plans yet, except for Thai takeaway tonight and a skype chat with my family on Saturday night. What have you guys got planned for this weekend? Can you believe its already the last weekend of March? Crazy!

afternoon adventures

Spontaneous afternoon adventures are hard to beat. George and I just decided to enjoy the afternoon sun out by the lake on the university campus. It was absolutely gorgeous with so many people out appreciating the weather. It's days like today which make me love living in the UK.

In terms of the weather...how has it all of a sudden become bare leg and thongs (Australian word for "flip flops") sort of temperatures? It's crazy, it only feels like yesterday when we still had to be rugged up in warm coats. But I am not complaining, this past few days have been in-fricken-credible!

One of the reasons it has been so in-fricken-credible is the fact that this weather has been so unexpected which makes it even more hotter than it is. It's only been 14c (57f for you Americans), however it feels like its pretty much 30c (86f for you american's again haha) that is a definite sign of the fact that I have been here in the UK for too long.

Another reason is the fact that it means we spend the majority of the day enjoying the outdoors and what can be bad about that?

timeless.

(ASOS dress, Sportsgirl sandels, Topshop jacket)

This is my new favourite dress and of course it is from Asos. As most of you would know, I am totally obsessed with Asos so it's pretty fitting that my favourite dress is from there. It came in the post yesterday and I literally haven't taken it off. I wore it to meet up with Megan yesterday (you can see photos here) and I wore it again today for a little photo shoot and to get a yummy ice cream while walking around the lake with George.

I am so happy I bit the bullet and purchased this gorgeous dress. I was pretty hesitant at first, wondering weather it would suit me/if I would be too short for it/did I need it? But impulse won out and I hit the "purchase" button. So happy with my decision. This dress makes me feel like a princess when I swirl around in it, or like I have stepped in a time machine and gone back to the 50's. It's amazing.

So, on Monday I started the first day of my shopping diet. You don't even want to know how long I am challenging myself to, but I will tell you anyway...27th May! I can't buy a new piece of clothing until then, or any accessories, or any shoes. It is going to be tough but it is for a good cause of saving for Sydney to be able to shop, etc. when George and I are there. I decided on 27th May because as I said in my last post, thats when George finishes his exams which will obviously call for a shopping celebration.

You will have to bare with me while I am attempting this shopping challenge as I will still be doing an outfit post per week, however, I feel they will become pretty repetitive haha. I will have to bring my "creative side" into it. It's lucky I have purchased a few other things along with this dress to help the time go quicker. And then once the challenge is over, I will be looking for more perfectly timeless pieces, just like this dress.

P.S Some exciting little news...I just made a Facebook page for The Littlest Things, so go on over and "Like" it here, if you want :)
