This weekend, the last weekend of winter, consisted of friday night curry with George's family, a good ol' pub lunch at a pub in the middle of Nottingham which i have always seemed to just not take any notice to but absolutely loved, successfully baking Olivia's amazing caramel sea-salt brownies (this weekend seemed to revolve a lot around food) which were all eaten up in approximately 15 minutes by just George and I, sunny afternoons spent out the back sipping on some red wine, a lot of sport watching (George is nervously watching the England V France game in that photo) and walks around the block purely to get bucket loads of chocolate and lollies (yes, there was more food involved) to toast off winter and its comfort eating.

And tonight is going to be spent sipping on a few cocktails for a friends birthday. Perfect way to spend a Monday night? Yehh I think so.

Most importantly though, is the fact that it is spring tomorrow. Fina-fricken-lly!

it's friday and this is whats making me happy

1. Cute little Valentine's day flowers still looking beautiful on my desk
2. A day spent looking after our house mates Jack Russell (it has made George and I really want a dog...we are thinking of getting one in September or next January or next week or tomorrow...ahh I just really want one.)
3. Canary Wharf skyline looking from Greenwich park. One of my favourite spots in London.
4. Lunch with the most beautiful white bread at the Albion Cafe
5. Rainy days spent inside watching the raindrop's race each other to the bottom of the window sill.
6. White Converse that I have been living in.
7. Adorable little beer garden that i randomly stumbled upon.
8. Beautiful, crisp sunny days where everything feels 100% better (i am seriously over this English weather except when I can just chill and do what was mentioned in #5)
9. Hi, I am Sophie Learmont and I am a "This Water-aholic". Seriously, I am addicted.
10. Sunsets have to be the most beautiful time of the day. Especially ones setting over Blackheath.

Here are the current little things which I am really appreciating at the moment. And I am glad I am sharing them with you guys on a Friday as Friday's make me even more happy! Today George's family have come to Nottingham to check out the place, our house, and go out for a curry together. Perfect friday evening in my book. Today I went out and bought a new baking tray and brownie ingrediants to bake the most beautiful looking brownies ever over the weekend. They are Olivia's (from everyday musings) recipe and they look absolutely beautiful on her blog, but she happens to make everything look beautiful so we will see how mine go. Olivia's blog is another one of my favourite blogs, but her's is my absolute all time favourite lifestyle/food/photography/everything is amazing blog, and this will be the first time that I attempt to bake something of hers, so hopefully I don't stuff it all up (usually what happens when I try and bake something - I think I get that from my mum, who as I recall, on my 4th or 5th birthday started screaming and punching the cake I had asked her to make. In her defense, I had asked her to make a jewelery box cake, which as you can imagine, is nearly impossible. Maybe not for all you baking geniuses out there but it is for the bakingly challenged. P.s Sorry for spilling your secret Mum, I still love you!) So if these brownies turn out the way Olivia gets them to turn out, then you will see photos. However, if they don't, you will know that they haven't from the lack of photos, so don't bring it up, it will be a soft spot haha.
I hope you all have perfect weekend's (the last weekend of winter! Hooray! It is all uphill from here...or its the last weekend of summer for my beautiful friends + family "down-under", sorry guys, but its all downhill for you - apart from the skiing, and apart from the fact that Australian winter is the equivalent to British summer so i suppose we are actually on a level playing field. Damn...............)

kickin' it in my connies

Yes I am wearing the same denim jacket as I was wearing in London. I actually bought this jacket from ASOS end of '09 and never wore it. Whenever I went to put it on, I would quickly take it off because i looked like some rugby player with huge shoulders. That was until this winter when i figured it out (im a bit slow) that it looks way less bulky when teamed with a jumper underneath. And so it has quickly become a "new" favourite. I love shopping in my own closet. Anyway..these photos were taken last week sometime when it was a little sunny. This outfit i am wearing would be classified as a "me" sort of outfit. If you were to ask any of my family or old friends what my personal style was (not that you are going to, but just for story purposes we will pretend that you have), they would probably answer with something along the lines of this sort of outfit. Slouchy pants and connies are a staple for me. Although, what even is personal style? It is a tricky question, don't you think? I think I define it by "the style that makes you comfortable and confident". But I have trouble defining what mine is because I love multiple "styles". I am just as comfortable and confident wearing a totally OTT girly sun dress as i am wearing something like combat boots, jeans and an oversized tee. Or, here I am kickin' it in my connies and slouchy pants, but I also love wearing outrageously high heels with a tailored blazer.
Maybe it is best not to define your personal style?
Oh well, it is all part of the fun and games of fashion.

And just a shot of the outfit. I'll post more of those later on.
So here is the second round of photos from my day in London. These ones from all the hype surrounding the Burberry show. It was intense and i loved every second of it. As soon as i got there, I see Anna Wintour hopping out of her car which was so amazing. And its hard to believe but Alexa Chung is even more gorgeous in real life....it is insane. I even got to meet a few of my fave bloggers briefly but got a bit "starstruck" when I called out Garance's name haha. We exchanged "hellos" but then she continued to shoot a photo of Scott which i suppose is ok haha. So i got a photo of her mid action which was better than nothing.
The whole atmosphere was just hectic, amazing, totally over the top with paparazzi everywhere but it was just the best afternoon of people watching ever. My eyes were constantly in awe of everything i was seeing. Finally not just from behind a computer screen. I desperately just wanted to be inside the show, to be lucky enough to have the exclusive white ticket...im thinking next S/S12 show...Christopher Bailey, you better read this, haha nahh who am I kidding?! You can always dream though!

Okkk yeppp it's true, the pictures don't lie! I got to meet Alexander Wang. To fill you in...after reading that he was going to be in London on Monday, I just had to book a train down. I was already planning on taking a day trip on that day as it was the same day that three of my favourite designers were showing their new collections - Christopher Kane, Erdem and of course Burberry (I have got some exciting photos outside the Burberry show coming tomorrow) - and i wanted to check out the London Fashion Week vibe. So when I found out Alexander Wang was going to be in town too, I jumped on the internet to book train tickets. I was so happy I did and brought Megan along with me too. I had the best day I could have imagined. It made me so inspired and even more passionate about wanting to work in the London fashion industry in the future. It was just magical. And the fact that I got the chance to meet one of my all time favourite designers made the day turn into a dream. Seriously, I thought I was dreaming! He is literally one of the nicest guys and so genuine, really made an effort to try and have a little chat with everyone in the room and get a photo. The set-up was awesome too, it was in one of the rooms in Liberty department store with Alexander Wang's SS11 collection hanging up all around us, which was just teasing me really. I was super close to just putting the whole room on my credit card (imagine). I am so happy I made the trip down to London for the day (seriously wish Nottingham was closer or just wish i still lived in London) to be able to experience the London fashion week vibe for myself. It was amazing.
More photos to come tomorrow. Hope you like these ones because it was the best day of my lifeee!
