black and white

"If you have the opportunity to play this game of life, then you need to appreciate every moment. A lot of people don't appreciate the moment until it's passed"
- Kanye West

I'm not that much of a Kanye fan but I definitely agree with him on this quote. Recently I have been way too focused on what I have coming up rather than appreciating the moment. All I have been thinking about is "I can't wait until George's exams are over", "I can't to arrive in Sydney", "I can't wait to be on holiday with George's family" etc, etc, etc.

This past week I have been making a conscious effort to really appreciate the fun little things. So here are some black and white (sometimes my favourite types of photos) which are really all just about the fun little things. Like smiling and laughing, waking up and flipping through cookbooks and reading blogs, pretty flowers on the walk home from the bus, view from the window and above all else...just being happy. I doubt my life will ever be this care-free again so it's even more important to appreciate it now otherwise I will blink and miss it all.

This is so true! It's so important to live life just as its happening and focuse on the present instead of the past or future. Black and white photos are the best, I totally agree!

Just had to find you after Megan from Across the Pond told me too! Love your blog!

I couldn't agree with you more! This year I've been completely living for the future without taking time to appreciate the here and now... I think this post is a good reality check for me!

beautiful quote and advise :) i love black and white too! I heard a quote once that went something like this..." When you photograph people in color you are photographing their clothes, but when you photograph them in black and white you photograph their souls"

Beautiful photos! And you're so right! I need to take a moment to appreciate the little things that are happening in the present, rather than putting way too much focus on the future.

I absolutely adore the last photo. Love laughing shots. And I should be better about living in the moment. I swear as soon as Monday morning hits I can't stop repeating "I can't wait for Friday."

Do you know what Soph? You have captured it in a nutshell - I look at your pictures and I see CAREFREE! That is what you blog exudes (and I don't mean it's without substance just that it has such a wonderful touch of youth and freedom to it). It is a golden moment for you both - that is what I keep seeing when I visit and it's just as it should be. That is what it's all about. I think back to when I was in my early 20s and similarly - we just hung out, cooked, saw friends, chilled. Nothing seemed that hard or traumatic. A blessed time! Now of course whilst only 15 years on - I feel like there are alot of responsibilities! Big demanding jobs; the thing with getting a career is that it's hard work! Mortgages, kids, mess, family, keeping up with friends who are all over the country/world. Hmmm...what I would give to have a few moments of that lovely carefree time again. BUT - here is the deal: it's what it's all about. Bittersweet life - the carefree leads to having cares about things, working for stuff and being older. It's all part of the clever tapestry of life! Very cool post :-) Lou x

An overwhelming yes to the entire context of this post. I've been doing that too, "What's next, what should I be counting down to?" And it makes me skip out on the day to day. Which is too important to ignore.

Looks lovely!

Just the little reminder I needed. I have been anxiously awaiting too many things instead of enjoying what's happening today. Time to go kiss my baby & enjoy the day!
