Happy Weekend!

How the hell is it already the last day of April.
I cannot believe it.
It seems no longer than a month ago (max) that it was New Years Eve, just the beginning of 2010, but we are into the 5th month of the year starting tomorrow.
So this is a little bit of my 2010, to date, in pictures:
(flying back to Sydney from London -1st January 2010)
(day at the cricket with my family)
(Melbourne for my Dad's birthday weekend - Melbourne alley way)
(back in London from 12th Feb - 5th April to visit my boyfriend. This is another lovely rainy day in the awesome city)
(buying my all time favourite pair of jeans - Harem jeans from H&M seen here)
(dress-up 21sts)
(and back to the lovely beaches of Sydney before winter comes - Manly beach)

And this weekend my Mum and I are going to Paddington Markets for the day which will definitely end up with a perfect long lunch out in Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

I really love mother/daughter days!

And just another lovely picture to put a little smile on your face

Have a great weekend!

Flowers and Military.

While looking through net-a-porter.com's online magazine I came across this look. Since recently buying a Topshop army style parker, I decided to team it with my favourite floral pieces I have.
H&M Floral top
Divinity & Grace floral skirt
ASOS floral dress
I love how the jacket so easily works with all looks - it can be dressed up or added to a casual outfit.
Perfect jacket for the transition from summer to winter.

I have also finally caught onto Bloglovin so you can also follow me there.

Sometimes a picture says a 1000 words

Or sometimes just a few...
But a 1000 words or a few words,
I am so excited for winter.
Autumn is slowly arriving with chilly mornings, the frequant use of cosy jumpers and excessive amounts of extremely chocolatey hot chocolate.

Style Inspiration

I was flipping through Elle Collections Spring/Summer 2010 this weekend, and came across the Best Collections of the Spring/Summer shows.
The shows that made it in the top included; Celine, Prada, Lanvin, Alexander Wang, Dolce & Gabbana, Christopher Kane, Gucci, Proenza Schoulder and Ralph Lauren.
My two favourite shows out of these were, Dolce & Gabbana and Christopher Kane.
It made me laugh how they couldn't be more opposite in their styles, which reminded me of  The Sartorlialist's post about the Celine woman Vs the Louis Vuitton woman.
The Dolce & Gabbana woman VS the Christopher Kane woman:
I can't choose.
I reckon between them, they are the perfect contrast.
I love the sophisticated use of lace, silks and black by Dolce & Gabbana.
But then I also love the use of pastels pink, baby blue rose-beaded embroidery which make the looks so pretty and girly.

What's your favourite - The sexy Dolce & Gabbana look?
Or the flirty Christopher Kane look?

Happy Weekend!

There are always those days where everything seems perfect.
And today was one of them.
I spent it around the lower North Shore of Sydney.
It was just magical driving around listening to some Angus and Julia Stone with my window down, while getting glimpses of the glistening harbour filled with sailing boats.
Days like today made me realise just how much I missed Sydney while I was away.
This weekend is a long weekend, with Monday being a public holiday for ANZAC day.
So over this weekend, I plan to fully appreciate this amazing city as much as I can and not waste a second.
I know it's always fun to be looking forward to things (45 days until my boyfriend is in Sydney) but sometimes its the best to just take a weekend or a day to truly appreciate everything around you.

 Happy weekend!

Countdown for Winter...

This week has been so outrageously warm!
As we are nearly a month into Autumn it's suppose to be getting cooler - doesn't seem like its going to be any time soon with this 25+ weather.
I've been hanging out for Winter so badly!
I just can't wait for the leaves to start changing colour and look this stunning.
The main reason I am so over this summery weather and so looking forward to winter is because I get to spend 3 months living and working down at the snow.
I just can't even describe how excited I am, only 52 days until I am down there.
Spending your days skiing down some beautiful mountains while just listening to some chilled out music, has to be some of the best.
In the meantime, this Warren Miller movie (and along with a lot more of his movies) is keeping me a little sane.

Hair Envy!

I actually feel really sorry for my hair. I've never looked after it well at all! I've never been able to do anything cool with it and I always completely lose interest while straightening my hair, so I'm often wearing hair which is half straight/half curly (frizzy).
When I was flipping through Harper's Bazaar Australia May issue I came across this beautiful photo and it made me instantly buy the magazine.
I love this hair style so much. I cannot wait to attempt it (attempt being the operative word).
I think this hair style teamed with the lingerie look would be absolutely stunning.

This is another look from the editorial that I love and cant wait to attempt. This would be the perfect bad hair day cover up.
And as I seem to have a lot of those, I'll definitely be trying this one sooner rather than later.

Trend I love: Underwear as Outerwear

Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2010

I love love love this look.
It's feminine and sexy but without being "slutty"
In Vogue Australia May 2010, they brought up the issue of how do we embrace the trend in everyday life, but it looks like these two girls have had no trouble what-so-ever.

These are the types of pieces I would like to add to my wardrobe.

Life is beautiful

Weekends spent catching up with friends, indian takeaway, workouts followed by long bubble baths and baking cupcakes are some of the best.
Makes you realise that Life is Beautiful.
And so do all these images.

Paris in the spring time

This time last year, my family andI were in Paris.
It was the first time I had ever been and I absolutely loved it.

Waiting for the Seine river boat
Checking out the yummy cheeses at this cute market store.
My mum, brother and I on the boat along the Seine.
A lovely spring day in Paris, with beautiful blossomed lined foot paths.

I now desperately want to go back after watching An Education and Julie&Julia.
Paris is beautiful.

fairy tales...

(image from weheartit)
Who can not love fairy tales?
The world of imagination and fantasy is so magical and romantic.
It would have to make everyone happy.
With Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland coming out, it has created the themes of fairy tales to be transformed into the fashion world with these amazingly over-the-top pumps by Nicholas Kirkwood, which were created for a window display at Parisian department store Printemps.

Then there is the Dior Haute Couture S/S 2010 collection which look like they have just stepped out of a fairy tale.
I think these dresses are absolutely beautiful, so feminine and just really makes me want to have somewhere extravagant to go where I would be able to pull these stunning dresses off.

I have a few 21st parties coming up and I am planning on going with the fairy tale style in something along the lines of this amazing Victor & Rolf dress

I'll just keep dreaming...

a lovely surprise.

I was so surprised when Louise from Lou, Boos and shoes and also Jammer at 10.A.M both told me they had left an award for me on their blogs. So lovely of them both and I was so excited.
They both gave me the 'Beautiful Blogger' award, where I have to list 7 interesting things about myself and then list 7 blogs that I like.
So here we go:

ONE:
I have never smoked or done any drugs, which I suppose isn't much of an achievement at being only 20, but whenever I tell anyone who is also in their young 20's, they are completely and utterly shocked. The reason why I have not ever smoked or taken any sort of drug is because when I was younger, my Dad and I made a pact that I would do neither until my 21st birthday and he would reward me with $5000. Now that I have lasted my whole teens doing neither, I now have hardly any temptation to do so, so it was a good plan by my dad. Though, I have already spent $2000 of my allocated reward on a return ticket to London to visit my boyfriend - money definitely well spent though. My 21st birthday is in June so that is when I will get the rest.

TWO:
Since leaving high school in 2007,  I have not been to University or college or any sort of equivalent as I really have no idea what I want to be when I am older and I feel it would be a major waste of time and money just doing a degree for the sake of it. Instead, I went and ski instructed for a winter season in a ski resort called Thredbo (about 6 hours south of Sydney) which was the best experience - I am actually going back down for this upcoming season and living with my boyfriend, my brother and a friend who are also going to be ski instructing.
(July 2008)

THREE:
I feel like living is the best thing in the world and I can't imagine whatever happens to us afterwards is better than this. Thus, I have a fear of dying. This fact makes it hard for me to fall asleep by myself as I always like some company when I am sleeping in the dark - I suppose I am afraid of the dark too.

FOUR:
I met my boyfriend on the night of finishing my last HSC exam (Nov 07) outside a club in North Sydney. It was so incredibly lucky we actually met, so many different variations of that night could have happened and I would have never ended up meeting an English guy from London. We spent 8 months together in Sydney until I went down to the snow and he went back to England to start University at Nottingham. It wasn't until around September 2008 (4 months later) when we organised for me to come over to London in December and work at a prep school for the year. We spent 2009, travelling between London & Nottingham - much better then London and Sydney.
If I hadn't met him, I have no idea what I would have been doing last year or even right now which I find a little romantic.
(October 2009)

FIVE:
I love so many TV shows its pretty pathetic. Favourites include: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sex and the City, Gilmore Girls, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl and even reality TV shows like, The Hills & The City.
I loved Gilmore Girls so much, I wanted to be like Rory (even though we are the complete opposite types of people) and I just loved her brown hair, so in the summer of '06/'07 I died my hair brown like hers. I even stuck with it for a year even though it didn't suit me at all. Then I had to do the painful process of gradually dying it back blonde.

SIX:
I was such a tom-boy when I was little. I used to try be so much like the boys and would dress in my younger brothers clothes, cut my hair really short and would never ever wear dresses or skirts. It was until I was about 8 years old when I realised its actually pretty cool being a girl.
But I still have that tom-boy aspect about me. I am so, so, so messy and I really don't mind it when I am living in squalor haha. My boyfriend would be utterly shocked at how I got my kitchen into such a state in only 4 days!

SEVEN:
The reason my blog URL is 'rofflear' is because it is the name my brother calls me. Completely random! Roff is for Soph (do not know how he made the connection and Lear is the four first letters of my last name - Learmont).
We call our mum & dad - Mugs for mum and Minky for dad. Don't ask me why haha because I have no recollection of the reason. And we call my brother Schmunkle.
The family is actually, Minky, Mugs, Schmunkle and Roff instead of Andrew, Judy, Eddy and Sophie.
I love that we are so close though, my family are my best friends and I missed them so much when I was away.
The four of us in Melbourne (January 2010)
Haha and my dad isn't the best at having his photo taken - we call all his bad photos the "Minky yuck file"

Now here are the 7 blogs who I pass the award onto:
